SW News: As a powerful counter-offensive against the woke culture and secularism, the governor of the US state of Tennessee has declared Friday, September 30, as a "day of prayer, humility, and fasting” to seek God’s grace over the country.
Governor Bill Lee posted a picture of the signed declaration last Friday on his social media account and tweeted that he and his wife Maria are inviting “Tennesseans to join in this tradition to thank God for His many blessings, seek His wisdom in all circumstances, and ask for His continued grace & favor in the days ahead."

In the proclamation, the governor invited the people of the state to observe a day with God as Tennessee needed the Almighty’s grace and invited people to acknowledge “God's sovereignty”. It also stated that Scripture clearly says that “the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and the Lord gives wisdom freely to those who ask for it”.

Lee also mentioned that a day is set apart for prayer and fasting as the people in the country acknowledge “our rich blessings, our deep transgressions, the complex challenges ahead,” and the need to “humble” oneself and “seek God's guidance for days ahead”.

Lee, who is a Republican, became the 50th governor of Tennessee in 2019. He and the first lady are people of strong faith and they have traveled across the world to countries like Africa, Haiti, Central America, and the Middle East to serve the people in need. In this Republican-led state, abortion is illegal right from fertilization. The law banning the termination of pregnancy came into effect on August 25 this year.

There are no exceptions to this law and if somebody is charged with performing an abortion, he or she has to prove that it was done to save the mother’s life, which was in jeopardy.
