SW News: A leading figure at a US think tank is accusing western media of remaining largely silent on the issue of Christian persecution in Nigeria. Lela Gilbert is a senior fellow for International Religious Freedom at Family Research Council, which is based in Washington, D.C. In a recent article published by Religion Unplugged she described radical Islam as a dangerous darkness that is sweeping across the African continent and, especially, across Nigeria. Despite this, she says, the mainstream western media have barely covered the issue. In April this year, the United States Commission on Religious Freedom identified Nigeria as a country of particular concern when it comes to religious liberty.
