Washington, DC:
The United States saw an unprecedented rise in anti-semitic attacks in the last two months. International advocacy group Anti-Defamation League (ADL) recorded a total of 2,031 antisemitic incidents in the country since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7. In a press release published this week, ADL revealed the sudden surge in hate crimes against Jews in the country.
The advocacy group said that in the US on average, the Jews faced about 34 antisemitic incidents per day. They also noted that “there were about 250 antisemitic incidents that specifically targeted Jewish institutions such as synagogues.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday about a coordinated counter-terrorism operation that led to the arrests of several individuals allegedly linked to Hamas-affiliated terrorist cells in Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands.
In a statement, Netanyahu said, “Thanks to an intensive and comprehensive intelligence investigation, today Denmark security and enforcements [sic] arrested 7 terrorist operatives acting on behalf of the terrorist organization Hamas, and thwarted an attack aimed at killing innocent citizens on European soil."
At a press conference in Brussels, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that the counter-terrorism operations revealed the condition of Denmark. She further added, "For several years we have noted that there are people who live in Denmark and who do not wish us well, who are against our democracy, our freedom, and who are against Danish society.”
The German prosecutors revealed the arrests of four individuals alleged of plotting terrorist attacks against Jewish institutions in Europe in a statement on Thursday. The prosecutors said that the four were found to be the members of Islamist militant group Hamas.
The European Union Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson said there has been a surge in terrorist attacks the European Union has been facing ever since the Middle-East conflict began.
