SW News: The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Subcommittee on Aid to the Church in Central and Eastern Europe will send this year’s Ash Wednesday collection to support Catholic communities in Kyrgyzstan. Speaking on the initiative, chairman of the Subcommittee on Aid to the Church in Central and Eastern Europe, Bishop Jeffrey Monforton said: “I encourage Catholics to prayerfully consider supporting this collection, as the projects aided by the generosity of the faithful here in the U.S. will impact the lives of many in Central and Eastern Europe.” The USCCB, through its subcommittee, supports seminaries, pastoral centers, social service programs in other countries.
