SW News: The papal charity, Aid to the Church in Need, have condemned Monday’s twin bombings on the Philippine island of Jolo which killed 14 people and wounded dozens of others. The attack is thought to be the work of Islamist terrorists. The blast occurred around midday near the island’s Catholic cathedral which was itself targeted by a suicide bombing last year. Aid to the Church in Need have described the latest attacks as, “cruel and ruthless” and “devoid of any ounce of humanity or respect for life and property.”  Last January, a suicide bombing at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel left 23 people dead as worshippers gathered for Sunday Mass. The island of Jolo is located within the southern province of Sulu which is known to be a stronghold for the Islamist terror group, Abu Sayyaf.
