SW News: A young Dominican priest was stabbed to death in the Diocese of Kon Tum in Vietnam on Saturday, January 29. Fr. Joseph Tran Ngoc Thanh, O.P., who was serving at the parishes of Sa Loong and Dak Mot, was stabbed to death while he was hearing confession at the mission of Dak Mot before Saturday evening Holy Mass. The police have arrested a suspect, said the diocese.

Fr. Joseph Tran Ngoc Thanh came to serve at the mission in Dak Mot, about 40 miles northwest of Kon Tum in the highland of Vietnam, soon after his priestly ordination in August 2018. Born in 1981 in Ho Chi Minh City, Fr. Joseph Tran Ngoc Thanh, O.P took his religious vows in 2010.

The funeral ceremony of Fr. Trần was held at the Dominican monastery in Kon Tum on Sunday and was presided over by Bishop Aloisio of Kon Tum Diocese. Fr. Joseph Tran Ngoc Thanh, O.P. will be laid to eternal rest today, January 31, at St. Martin Chapel in Biên Hòa.
