Cardinal drives ambulance gifted by Pope Francis to Ukraine

SW News: As the war in Ukraine shows no signs of abetting, once again the Holy Father Pope Francis has shown his solidarity and closeness with the suffering people in the Eastern European country. This time too he has sent an ambulance fitted with a Vatican number plate and it was driven by none other than Papal Almoner Cardinal Konrad Krajewski.
The Cardinal is already in Ukraine with the ambulance that is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment donated by the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome. This will be the second time Cardinal Konrad Krajewski is delivering an ambulance to the conflict-hit country on behalf of the pope. A few weeks ago, he was in the city of Lviv to hand over another ambulance. But this time, he chose to drive the vehicle all the way to Kyiv.
This papal gift on wheels, which has been blessed by Pope Francis himself, will be handed over to a cardiology hospital in Kyiv on Maundy Thursday. This symbol of the closeness of the Holy Father to residents of the war-torn nation is the best way to begin the Sacred Triduum.
On April 12, Tuesday, Cardinal Krajewski presided over the Chrism Mass in the Cathedral of Lviv, followed by a quick meeting with the Latin Archbishop of Lviv Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki, and with the Greek-Catholic Archbishop Ihor Vozniak, after which he continued his journey to Kyiv.
"The purpose of this trip,” Cardinal Krajewski told Vatican Media, “is to celebrate the Easter Triduum there together with the various Churches, with the people who suffer but who, in this Holy Week, want to get to sing: ‘Alleluia, Christ is risen.’”
