Paris archbishop consecrates the city to the United Hearts of Jesus and Mary

SW News: On the Feast of the Assumption, Paris Archbishop Michel Aupetit celebrated Holy Mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, commonly known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica, Montmartre, Paris. Following the Mass, the archbishop consecrated the city of Paris to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Due to covid-19 restrictions, only 450 faithful were allowed inside the church. However, around 2000 people attended the Mass outside through four giant screens installed in the premises.
Reflecting on the day’s gospel, Archbishop Aupetit noted how St. Luke uses the same Greek word while referring to the child in Elizabeth’s womb that Jesus used when he said, “Let the little children come to me.” Alluding to French government’s plan to reform the bioethics bill, he went on to say, “these days men believe they are authorized to destroy human embryos or to manipulate them for haphazard experiments.” The Archbishop reminded that life belongs to God and no one else.
He concluded the sermon saying that “Mother Mary watches over us” and that she teaches us the will of the Father and to welcome the Holy Spirit so that “we can truly live in communion with God.”
