SW News: Pope Francis' upcoming apostolic visit to Hungary will "fire up the faith" of the Christian nation, says Hungary's ambassador to the Holy See, Eduard Habsburg.
He clarified that this will be the third time the Pope meets the Hungarians.
During an interview with the Vatican News, Ambassador Eduard Habsburg of Hungary to the Holy See and the Sovereign Order of Malta shared the Hungarians' great desire to welcome the Holy Father.
Habsburg shared his encounters with the Holy Father and the country's deeply rooted Catholic faith. The ambassador also shared his thoughts on the refugees in the country that shares a border with war-torn Ukraine. Hungarians were always at help for the Ukrainians fleeing the war. As a result, nearly 1 million took refuge in Hungary soon after the onset of the war in 2022. Some of these groups will meet with the Holy Father. The ambassador addressed it as one of the Hungarians' greatest humanitarian help.
Talking about the Catholic faith in the country, the ambassador said, "We have a country that's not afraid of showing religion and faith in the public square. We have a clear separation between Church and State as it is always normal nowadays, but Church and State work together." When asked about the significance of the papal visit, he said that the Pope always connected to the Hungarians.
Pope Francis is scheduled to visit the Heart of Europe from April 28 to 30. His 41st trip overseas will include a busy schedule in Budapest, the nation's capital.
Meetings with refugees and the underprivileged will be held during the three-day visit to the Hungarian capital, in addition to private encounters with the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic, children with visual impairments, and Jesuits.
Earlier in 2021, the Pope paid a brief visit to the Hungarian capital on September 12, 2021, for the closing of the International Eucharistic Congress.
