SW News:
The Vatican has confirmed that Wittoria Ulma, who was pregnant with her seventh child at the time of her martyrdom, gave birth to her child while suffering martyrdom. As a result, the Church added the newborn to its significant list of martyrs. Based on a statement released by the Vatican's Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, Wittoria Ulma was seven months pregnant with her seventh child when she was killed, and a son was born at the time of her martyrdom. Meanwhile, in a message released on Tuesday, September 5, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro and Archbishop Fabio Fabene, the prefect and secretary of the dicastery, respectively, revealed that he had received the baptism of blood during the martyrdom of his parents. The teachings of the Catholic Church state that "baptism of blood" pertains to individuals who, due to their martyrdom or selfless acts in defense of their religious beliefs, are believed to undergo a form of "spiritual baptism. This spiritual baptism is said to cleanse their souls, irrespective of whether they have undergone the traditional sacrament of water baptism. According to the Catholic Church's Catechism, "The Church has always held the firm conviction that those who suffer death for their faith without having been baptized are baptized by their death with Christ and by Christ. This baptism of blood, like the desire for baptism, produces baptism's fruit without being a sacrament."
