SW News: More than 3,500 Holy Masses, 1,300-plus Eucharistic adorations, 1,300 consecrations to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in churches, chapels, convents, monasteries, schools and prisons and more than 500 night vigils across Argentina over three years. All because of the visit of the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which is rounding up its three-year sojourn across the South American country on March 3.
During the course of the tour of the Pilgrim Virgin Statue, more than 170 hospitals and nursing homes apart from 300-plus colleges and schools hosted the Blessed Mother. Over 300 processions with the sacred image took place in the nook and cranny of Argentina accompanied by numerous Holy Masses and the administering of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
On March 3, the Argentinian believers will bid adieu to the beautiful Marian image, which is one of several replicas of the iconic image of Our Lady of Fatima sculpted by Jose Thedim after consulting Sister Lucy, one of the three visionaries. There will be a farewell Mass in Rosario as well as Buenos Aires before the sacred image is taken back to Portugal. On February 25, when the International Pilgrim Virgin arrives in Rosario, there will be Holy Mass celebrated by Monsignor Eduardo Eliseo Martin in the Cathedral of Nuestra Senora del Rosario followed by Eucharistic Adoration.
Two days later, in the Metropolitan Cathedral in Buenos Aires, Holy Mass will be offered when the holy image arrives. Later, the Virgin’s statue will be taken to the parish of Our Lady of Fatima in Temperley from where it be taken to the airport.
Different lay movements in the country organized the longest and most extensive pilgrimage of the sacred image, which united all people. Pope Francis had also exhorted his fellow countrymen to receive the Blessed Mother and to celebrate her arrival as She brings Jesus. After arriving in the country on April 2, 2019, the Holy Virgin was warmly received in 34 dioceses and She clocked more than 50,000 kilometres.
