Yerevan:

Armenian authorities have confirmed that at least 42,500 Armenians have fled from Nagorno-Karabakh enclave in Azerbaijan following an armed incursion by Azeri troops last week. About one-third of the population in the hotly contested enclave has moved to neighboring Armenia.
The mostly Christian Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh are fleeing their homeland amid fears of more attacks from Azerbaijan. People are leaving their homeland for more than a millennia with their sole possessions tied on top of their rickety cars or pickup trucks and minivans. The months-long embargo on the region by Azeri troops has virtually stopped the flow of essential supplies, including medicines and food, bringing life to a standstill there.
Azeri troops blockaded the Lachin Corridor connecting the enclave with neighboring Armenia exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and inviting the ire of the international community. Many ethnic Armenians from Nagorno Karabakh are escaping to Goris, a resort town located on the border with Armenia.
During the recent military offensive, Azeri troops have recaptured the restive enclave which has been controlled by ethnic Armenians since the fall of the USSR in the 90s. During the offensive, hundreds of people are reported to have died. Houses and a school are reported to have suffered damage. According to eyewitnesses, the bombings forced children to run into the school, which was then targeted by Azeri soldiers with mortar.
In Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, the US Agency for International Development chief Samantha Power has announced an aid package of 11.5 million USD for Nagorno Karabakh. She also asked Baku to “maintain the ceasefire and take concrete steps to  protect the rights of civilians in Nagorno Karabakh”.
"It is absolutely critical that independent monitors as well as humanitarian organizations get access to the people in Nagorno-Karabakh who still have dire needs," she told media persons.
