Nigeria:

The internal security situation in Nigeria is spiraling out of control, with abductions becoming the order of the day. In the latest incident, after attacking a Benedictine monastery in Eruku in the North Central State of Kwara, the armed men abducted three people, including a novice and two postulants. There are reports that armed Fulani herdsmen could be behind the attack that occurred on October 17.

Brother Godwin Eze, a novice, and two postulants, Anthony Eze, and Peter Olarewaju, were identified as the abducted individuals. This comes a day after the release of three nuns who had been abducted in the southeast state of Ebonyi earlier this month.

Internal security in Nigeria is worsening with Islamist insurgents such as the Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province and armed Muslim Fulani herdsmen unleashing terror on Christian communities and churches. The civilians remain concerned about the situation, and there is an increasing need to address this issue adequately.

According to the latest report by Open Doors, every two hours, a Christian is killed in Nigeria. The organization aiding persecuted Christians reported that over a year, more than 5,000 Christians were murdered because of their faith.

Over 4,700 Christians in Nigeria were kidnapped within the same period and at least 1,000 Christians experienced sexual assault, harassment, or rape. The report also said that a hundred thousand had to flee their homes during this period.
