Santa Ana:

Global Christian Relief, America's leading Christian Persecution watchdog, is teaming up with the International Institute for Religious Freedom to unveil an open-sourced database documenting violent religious assaults on Christians and believers worldwide. This marks the first-ever event-based global religious freedom data set.

Accessible to all, the database monitors over a dozen categories of violence, encompassing killings, arrests, abductions, and forced marriages. Users can search by country, religion, and perpetrator. Beyond its unprecedented scope, the database will serve as a valuable resource for journalists, advocacy groups, government officials, and anyone interested in data on violent religious persecution. It contains global reports of violent attacks from 2022 onwards and currently tracks over 6000 incidents.

Dr. David Curry, president of Global Christian Relief, will present this database at the International Religious Freedom Summit on January 30-31 in Washington, D.C. This database will be a crucial component of the GCR Global Religious Freedom Index, a more advanced tool set to launch this spring, which will gauge religious freedom worldwide by monitoring every facet of persecution, not solely violence.

Global Christian Relief stands as the leading watchdog organization in America, dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by persecuted Christians globally. In addition to empowering the Western church to advocate and pray for the persecuted, GCR operates in the most restrictive countries to safeguard and uplift Christians threatened by faith-based discrimination and violence. Dr. David Curry, president of GCR, currently serves on the United States Commission on Religious Freedom.
