SW News: Two Catholic priests, namely Fathers John Mark Cheitnum and Donatus Cleopas who were serving in the Diocese of Kafanchan, have been abducted from the parish rectory of the Christ the King Catholic Church located in Yadin Garu in Nigeria’s Kaduna state.

The press release of the Kafanchan Diocese, signed by its chancellor, Fr Emmanuel Okoio, states that the “sad event” took place in the evening “around 5:45 PM on July 15.”

Fr Okoio urged all the faithful to pray intensely “for their quick and safe release.” He also reminded the masses to “refrain from taking the laws into their hands” and assured that all legitimate means will be pursued for their secure and speedy liberation from their captors’ hands.

This incident is the latest in a series of kidnappings and attacks that exclusively target Christian institutions, clerics, and the faithful.
