SW News: Three children and three adults were gunned down in a primary school in the USA's Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday morning. This is the latest incidence of gun violence in the country and it took place at the Covenant School, a private Presbyterian institution that offers preschool through sixth grade and enrolls roughly 200 students.

The suspect, Audrey Hale, 28, a Nashville native, was fatally shot by police after they entered the building, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. Authorities claimed Hale entered the building by firing through a door and was armed with two AR-style weapons, including a rifle, pistol, and handgun. According to investigators, Hale also left behind a "manifesto" and had comprehensive maps of the schools, pointing to a planned attack.

The three children, all under nine, were declared dead after reaching Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital. The three adults, reportedly the staff of over 60, were slain in the incident.

Officials are still looking into the shooting, which, reportedly, is the 13th school shooting in the United States since the start of this year. Confirming the shooter's death, the police department issued a statement that said, "An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr. The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead. Student reunification with parents is at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd."

At least 133 mass shootings occurred in the US as of Monday. Since 2020, there have been over 600 more mass shootings per year in the nation, with 695 recorded in the year 2022.
