Americans United for Life names Arkansas as “Most Pro-Life State"

SW News: Arkansas has been named the most pro-life state in the United States by Americans United for Life (AUL) for the third year in a row, an honor the state received on Thursday, January 5. This ranking comes from the 2022 Life List by AUL, a yearly assessment of the states based on a comprehensive review of how each state protects human life from conception to natural death through its laws and policies.
Family Council president Jerry Cox came out with a statement saying, "This is astounding news! Arkansas has the best laws in the nation for protecting innocent human life from conception to natural death, and the state's legislators should be commended for passing such good laws. This is something to celebrate."
Cox claimed that a large number of people had a hand in making the landlocked area the most pro-life state in the United States. The Arkansas Right to Life and Family Council has been against abortion for 40 years.
He said that since 2011, the clergy, churches, political leaders, pregnancy support centers, and Arkansans have all worked relentlessly to make their state pro-life and that this effort has resulted in at least forty-seven pro-life measures being enacted by the state legislature.
Cox explained that opposing abortion was only one aspect of being pro-life, and the goal was to safeguard helpless human life from conception to the moment of death. "We're excited to keep fighting for life's sanctity in Arkansas," he added.
Meanwhile, AUL made note of Colorado's dismal performance relative to other states at this time. The Western state dropped eight places after passing legislation last year creating a so-called "fundamental right" to abortion and a ruling that preborn children had no legal rights in the state.
