Celebrating the vocation to family life; National Marriage Week to be commemorated from 7-14

SW News: The US Catholic Bishops have called the faithful to participate in the annual National Marriage Week and World Marriage Day to focus on and celebrate the vocation to marriage and family life. The National Marriage Week will be observed from February 7 to 14 while World Marriage Day falls on Sunday, February 13, this year.
The theme for this year's National Marriage Week is "Called to the Joy of Love" referring to the new National Pastoral Framework for Marriage and Family Life Ministry approved by the United States bishops in June 2021. It was chosen to highlight the many ways in which the Church supports married couples and families in living out the call of love.
By focusing on strengthening married life, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has come forward with many ways to celebrate the week of the married. As a part of it, a series of movies showcasing how various ministries are strengthening married couples facing obstacles such as infertility, sadness over the loss of a child, and the stresses of everyday life will be shared to the faithful daily, through various social media platforms. In addition, the Holy Rosary recital for married and engaged couples, as well as a discussion on what it means to care for a sick spouse and various other essential elements for married life, will be live-streamed on USCCB social media channels.
National Marriage Week USA, which began in 2010, is part of a global effort to unite individuals, organizations, and corporations behind a common goal of strengthening marriage in communities and influencing culture.
World Marriage Day surfaced from the Worldwide Marriage Encounter apostolate, which aims to help couples improve their marriages. Established in 1983, World Marriage Day is commemorated in dioceses around the country every second Sunday in February.
