The news of his confirmation was posted on the Facebook page of the Capuchin Franciscans
California:
Hollywood star Shia LaBeouf has officially entered the Catholic Church nearly 15 months after revealing his acceptance of the Catholic faith in an interview with 'Word on Fire' ministry founder Bishop Robert Barron. The news of his confirmation was posted on the Facebook page of the Capuchin Franciscans - Western America Province on Tuesday, December 2.
In the interview with Bishop Barron, he said that playing the lead role in the movie "Padre Pio" inspired him to delve into Catholicism. Last May, LaBeouf told ChurchPop media journalist Jacqueline Burkepile that he had been going through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), which guides individuals through stages leading to the reception of the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. He also expressed hope that Bishop Robert Barron would confirm him.
“We are thrilled to share that our dear friend Shia LaBeouf has fully entered the Church this past weekend through the sacrament of confirmation!,” the Facebook post on the Capuchin Franciscans' page read. It added, “The Capuchin Franciscan friars are overjoyed to welcome him into the fold and witness his deep commitment to his faith journey.”According to the post, “His decision to fully enter the Church is a testament to his sincere desire to grow in his relationship with God and live out the Gospel values.” The post requests prayers for LaBeouf as he "continues to deepen his faith and seek God’s guidance in his life.”
The 37-year-old actor rose to prominence with his role as Louis Stevens in the Disney Channel series "Even Stevens." He has also appeared in various films, including the "Transformers" series, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," and "Fury."
