SW News: A picture of president Stephen D. Minnis of Benedictine College in USA's Kansas leading students in praying the Rosary on their knees has gone viral on social media. This picture and a few other pictures of students praying the Rosary with the college president were posted on the official Facebook account of the institution on August 23 with the caption that reads,” Morning Rosary led by President Minnis is always a great start to the new school year! Join us every Wednesday morning in the Guadalupe Chapel at 7:30, or on Facebook live!”
The president’s moving gesture of faith was soon shared by people on social media platforms including Instagram, X and Facebook. “This is the perfect way to start the school year. I'm so grateful my child is there!,” a person commented. “Have you ever seen a college president on his knees praying in front of his students? Benedictine College is transforming culture in America,” another comment reads.
Benedictine College, a Catholic liberal arts college in Kansas, was established in 1971. “Forward. Always Forward,” is the motto of the college. Its mission statement states that “As a Catholic college, Benedictine College is committed to those beliefs and natural principles that form the framework of the Judeo-Christian tradition, and it is committed further to those specific matters of faith of the Roman Catholic tradition, as revealed in the person of Jesus Christ and handed down in the teachings of the Church.” Minnis has been serving as the president of the college since 2004.
