SW News: In a significant event, Brazil is preparing to commemorate the first-ever National Day of the Rosary of Men on Friday, September 8. Coinciding with the revered feast of the Nativity of Our Lady, this significant occasion marks a momentous milestone for the country.
On April 26, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin issued an announcement in Brazil's Official Gazette recognizing September 8 as the National Day of the Men's Rosary.
A number of regional and diocesan activities have been meticulously planned and coordinated around the country to honor this day.
Meanwhile, Glayson Lozer, secretary general of the Rosary of Men of Brazil, has acknowledged his organization's delight at getting extensive public attention for their efforts to encourage rosary devotion.
Tens of thousands of men visit the Aparecida Shrine's annual National Pilgrimage in February each year. According to Lozer, the movement does not have a national memory day. Based on his announcement, September 8 was selected as the campaign's launch date due to its significant "historical grounding."
Men have been praying and developing the movement, according to Lozer, for spiritual redemption and social development. He believes that the tercistas took up the cause of Our Lady's devotion by saying the rosary and urging other men to do the same, resulting in the formation of a massive Marian family known as Terco dos Men across Brazil.
