SW News: A 104-year-old man has been baptized in Brazil. The baptism of José Lourenço da Silva took place at the São Judas Tadeu Chapel in Alto Piquiri, Parana, on Saturday, June 17. He also received the Sacrament of Confirmation and the Eucharist on the same day from Father Antônio Murilo Macedo da Luz, the vicar of the Diocesan Sanctuary of São José.
The heart-touching moments were shared on the church's webpage on July 13 and have since gone viral on social media. The images were accompanied by a quote from paragraph 1213 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church which says, “Through Baptism, we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church, and made sharers in her mission.”
Social media users sent their wishes to José Lourenço with one comment reading, “Our God is wonderful, and He is not tired of waiting for our yes. May God bless you.” Another person commented, “God be praised and glorified for this beautiful moment.”
Brazil is considered the country with the largest Catholic population in the world, and the majority of Brazilians identify as Catholic.
