Pro-life groups slam US President Biden of politicizing Dept. of Defence

SW News: Through the yearly National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA), a coalition of pro-life groups is urging House Republicans to revoke the Department of Defence's policy allowing military personnel time off and travel compensation for abortions.
Nearly 50 think tanks and activist groups charged the Biden administration with politicizing the department by utilizing public dollars to pay for elective abortions for service members in a letter quoted by Fox News Digital.
Republicans on Capitol Hill were urged in the letter, which was delivered to lawmakers on Thursday, to completely repeal the department's illegal policy through the NDAA in order for a 'clean' bill to move forward.
The pro-life groups include the Heritage Foundation, Heritage Action for America, Students for Life Action, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Family Research Council and the American Cornerstone Institute.
The letter was addressed to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer of Minnesota, Chairwoman of the House Republican Conference Elise Stefanik of New York, Chairperson of the House Republican Policy Committee Gary Palmer of Alabama, Chairperson of the House Rules Committee Tom Cole of Oklahoma, Chairperson of the House Armed Services Committee Mike Rogers of Alabama, and Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee Kay Granger of Texas.
The NDAA for Fiscal Year 2024 was approved by the House Armed Services Committee last month, and House Republicans may take up the measure as early as next week. Last week, Republican lawmakers submitted a number of modifications that they want to see included in the NDAA for 2024.
The letter said the NDAA is the legislative vehicle to reassert Congress' authority over policymaking and ensure that the nation's laws and policies reflect the will of the American people. “Now that the House Armed Services Committee has passed the FY24 NDAA, it is imperative that this policy be fully repealed in any NDAA that passes on the House floor,” it said.
In the end, the groups said in the letter that Americans expect the military to focus on winning actual wars, not fighting culture wars and the majority (60%) do not approve of using taxpayer money to fund abortions.
