SW News: Thousands of pro-life supporters took part in a rally in the US state of Pennsylvania on Monday, September 27, proclaiming, "We know that's life," and urging lawmakers to further curb the state's abortion laws.
The first-ever March for Life around the Capitol witnessed teh participation of 3,000 people who spilled out onto Third Street. The event was organized by the Pennsylvania Family Institute, based in Harrisburg.
Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director who is now an anti-abortion campaigner, was the main speaker at the March for Life. She recounted the story of how she came to believe on the "right side of history." Republican legislative officials such as Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward, Westmoreland County, and House Speaker Bryan Cutler, Lancaster County, also addressed the gathering. "We're a voice for the voiceless and a voice for the unborn because we stand for life. All human life deserves protection," Ward said.
In addition, a group of their parliamentary colleagues who support revisions to the state's abortion law joined them on stage. Abortions are lawful in Pennsylvania for any reason other than gender selection up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. Pro-life activists say they will continue to spread their anti-abortion message until the laws change.
