UN panel probing Hamas’ sexual crimes against Israelis deemed anti-semitic

New York :

The Jewish State's ambassador to the UN has labeled the contentious Commission of Inquiry, which is tasked with looking into Hamas' crimes of rape and sexual abuse of Israelis, as "antisemitic" and unable to conduct a fair investigation.

Israel's Ambassador Gilad Erdan told Fox News Digital, "The antisemitic Commission of Inquiry, established by the morally distorted Human Rights Council, which recently appointed Iran as chair of the council's Social Forum, is biased against Israel in every way." He said Israel therefore has zero trust in its findings and its illegitimate activities. And added Its ‘investigation’ into the terror organization’s sexual crimes against Israeli women on Oct. 7 is akin to Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas in Gaza, investigating its crimes.

Erdan is an outspoken opponent of the United Nations' long-standing, purported bias against the state of Israel. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that sexual violence Hamas committed on October 7 is 'almost beyond human description or beyond our capacity to digest.”

When Blinken appeared on CNN's "State of the Union," host Jake Tapper questioned him about why he believed that the international community and the UN had been so slow to denounce the atrocities, even though there was growing evidence in Israel of Hamas's rapes and sex crimes against women, girls, and possibly even men on October 7. "I don't have an answer. I don't know why countries, leaders, and international organizations were so slow to focus on this, to bring it to people's attention. I'm glad it's finally happened," Blinken answered.

Elsewhere, the head of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has demanded an end to the war and stated that medical personnel are working under unbelievable conditions. He said the war in Gaza is having a catastrophic impact on healthcare in the enclave. Israel, meanwhile, has issued an order for residents to evacuate Khan Younis, the capital of southern Gaza. According to reports, the Israeli army's chief ordered his men to exert more pressure to defeat Hamas.

Hezbollah fired missiles and explosive drones at Israeli positions on Sunday, escalating the violence along Israel's border with Lebanon. Israeli airstrikes also shook several south Lebanon cities and villages. Since the Gaza war broke out two months ago, Israel and Hezbollah, which Iran supports, have been exchanging gunfire in the fiercest hostilities since a fight in 2006. For the most part, the violence has only occurred along the border. A request for comment was not immediately answered by the Israeli army.
