SW News: USCCB President Archbishop José H. Gomez has issued a statement praying for the protection and well-being of those in the path of Hurricane Laura.

“On behalf of my brother bishops in the United States, I am praying for the safety and well-being of everyone in the path of Hurricane Laura,” Gomez said in the statement.

Archbishop José H. Gomez also prayed for medical workers and first responders.

The archbishop urged the faithful to help the victims of the storm.

He concluded the statement, praying for the Virgin Mary’s “intercession to lessen the damage and ease the suffering caused by this storm.”
