ACN to host ‘Red Wednesday’ in November to raise awareness about persecuted Christians

Sydney:
As a show of support for persecuted Christians, the global pontifical organization Aid to the Church in Need(ACN) has requested that churches and public buildings across the globe be illuminated in red on November 22 as part of the annual Red Wednesday observance.
This year's "Red Wednesday" coincides with the Protestant Day of Confession and Prayer. Since it is such an important issue for Christians all around the globe, ACN suggests ecumenical acts as a way to show solidarity on the matter.
Since 2018, ACN Australia has participated in Red Wednesday, a day of prayer and awareness for persecuted Christians organized by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). Sydney, Broken Bay, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Newcastle, Wagga Wagga, and Perth are just some of the Australian dioceses that have taken part in recent years.
Many churches and cathedrals in Australia and elsewhere will be lit in red in honor of Red Wednesday and will also be conducting services and other activities to mark the occasion.
Meanwhile, Aid to the Church in Need recommends that its congregations comply with local regulations about lighting and energy conservation.
The website www.red-wednesday.de currently provides an overview of all participating municipalities.
