Iranian authorities detain mourners visiting graves of anti-regime protesters
News Desk

SW News: On Friday, June 9, authorities from the Iranian Intelligence Ministry arrested more than 30 mourners who had journeyed to Saqez and Bukan to pay their respects to the graves of those who had perished during the statewide anti-regime rallies of 2022.
The regime jailed 40 mourners, including six mothers and their children, who came to pay their respects to Mahsa Amini at the Aichi cemetery in Saqqez.
Since the September assassination of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was reportedly pummeled into a coma by the country's "morality police" for wearing a hijab they thought improper, the Islamic Republic has been rattled.
Hundreds of people have been slain as a result of the brutal attack on a popular movement demanding an end to the country's top clerics' dictatorial rule.
Human rights groups claim that the Islamic Republic killed around 500 individuals during the current protests, including at least 70 minors.
Meanwhile, the government has been pressuring Mahsa Amini's family to alter the Aichi Cemetery in order to conceal her burial nine months after her death in the Ershad Patrol prison camp.
On June 9, a large number of families of Iranian revolution martyrs and other people demonstrated against the Islamic Republic's planned changes to Mahsa Amini's grave and their attempts to hide it in Saqqez Cemetery and in front of the city's administration.
Separately, during demonstrations in Mashhad on October 8, 2022, Islamic Republic security forces opened fire, killing a 16-year-old called Abolfazl Adinehzadeh during demonstrations in Mashhad on October 8, last year.
Despite the government's denial of any role in the victims' families' persecution, the victims' relatives hold Islamic Republic agents responsible for the crimes perpetrated against them.
Numerous families of victims killed by the government have been approached and jailed, and authorities have put pressure on relatives of victims who have made anti-regime statements at memorials or on social media.
