SW News: The yearly Blessing of the Sick was presided over by the archbishop of Colombo at Sri Lanka’s Tewatte's Marian shrine. Many Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims participated in the festivities. The lack of justice for the victims of the 2019 Easter atrocities was raised once more by the cardinal.

Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, archbishop of Colombo, spoke on the illnesses that had plagued the nation for long. He claimed that the corrupt rulers did not provide justice or carry out a proper investigation into the Easter attack. Political leaders are stifling every investigation, concealing the masterminds behind the Easter bombings.

The archbishop said that the country’s present economic situation is because the rulers were allowed to implement their selfish programs.

Cardinal Ranjith stated in his homily, "Let's pray to the Mother of God today to reveal to us soon who committed that terrible crime that destroyed the lives of 273 of our fellow people and rendered the lives of another 500 helpless."

The archbishop also exhorted the faithful to struggle for the development of a just, democratic, and humane social structure that would uphold everyone's rights in the nation.

“As God instructed us to, pray with confidence in Him to get rid of all the challenges, sorrows, and pains that we get in our life journey," he said.

"We should endeavor to improve our society's precarious state. We have to commit to it. We should specifically pray,” he concluded.

Fr. Jude Sriyananda, the shrine’s administrator, said “Healed by the Lord, Journey towards the fullness of life with Mary," was the theme of the healing and prayer service.
