SW News: Based on reports published on Sunday, more instances of violence occurred in the Imphal West region of the northeastern Indian state of Manipur, leading to the destruction of 15 residential properties. A disturbance occurred on Saturday night in the town that was holding the Langol Games.

The security forces used a total of six tear gas rounds in order to disperse the gathering and restore order. Amidst the prevailing unrest, a man aged 45 sustained a gunshot injury to his left thigh and was subsequently sent to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment. Presently, his condition is said to be stable.

According to official sources, a significant business complex located in the Checkon region of Imphal East district was deliberately set ablaze, indicating the start of a new wave of violent incidents inside the district. According to reports, a further three residential properties were engulfed in flames, and emergency personnel successfully extinguished the fires.

On Saturday, the Imphal Valley experienced a state of immobilization due to a 24-hour mass strike initiated by the coordination committee representing 27 assembly seats.

According to available reports, the number of casualties resulting from the ethnic unrest in Manipur since May has exceeded 160 individuals.
