UK:

British home secretary Suella Braverman remembered Sir David Amess, the Catholic MP who was stabbed to death two years ago by an Islamist.

On the anniversary of his murder, she wrote on X, “Two years ago today, my friend Sir David Amess was murdered by an Islamist terrorist. Sir David was a devoted public servant who took great pride in representing his constituents. My thoughts remain with Sir David’s family, friends, and the people of Southend."

On October 15, 2021, a 25-year-old man, Ali Harbi Ali, who held Islamist views, stabbed David Amess, who was the MP for Southend West at the time, during a constituency surgery in Essex. Ali, a British citizen of Somali descent was found guilty of murder and has been serving a life sentence since.

A father of five, Sir David Amess was a devout Catholic known for his pro-life stance on abortion. He was a patron of the UK-based pro-life organization, 'Right To Life UK.'
