SW News: Sister Andre, the French nun who survived Covid-19 last year, is celebrating her 118th birthday on February 11. Sister Andre, whose real name is Lucile Randon, was born on February 11, 1904, in Alès, France.

A convert to Catholicism from Protestantism, she joined the Daughters of Charity congregation in 1944 to become a nun. Sister Andre now lives in Toulon, France.

According to Gerontology Research Group, Sister Andre is Europe’s oldest living person and the world’s second-oldest living person.

Last year, just before her 117th birthday, it was announced that she had recovered from Covid-19. According to Reuters, French President Emmanuel Macron’s office was among the callers who wished the nun on her 117th birthday.
