SW News: Young believers in the Polish Archdiocese of Warsaw will participate in the pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Warsaw ahead of the Diocesan Youth Day on Saturday, November 20. The event is being held ahead of World Youth Day (WYD), which will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2023.

Members of youth communities, altar boys, teachers and students will be visiting the tomb of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in the cathedral to thank God for the beatification of the Polish national hero who bravely opposed the communist regime and its atrocities. Young people who visit the cathedral daily will also be taking part in Holy Mass at 7 pm local time, after which they will pray at the tomb of Blessed Wyszyński.

Fr. Zbigniew Sawiak, the regional chaplain for children and youth, said, "World Youth Day is a spiritual pilgrimage of young people to Christ, looking for him and walking with him through life. Their diocesan celebrations are of great importance and value not only for young people who live in this particular region but for the entire local community." The priest also said, "We too want to pursue these plans and goals, seeing more and more the need of the Church as a companion on the way for the young generation. And it is in this spirit that we wish to organize this year's Diocesan Youth Day in our Archdiocese so that it may truly accompany young people on the path of faith and walk with them, in the Church and with the Church, towards Christ."

The pilgrimage will end on Saturday, November 20, followed by the Diocesan Youth Day celebration on Sunday, November 21, the feast of Christ the King. The pilgrimage will conclude at the Temple of Divine Providence in Warsaw. The motto of the event is taken from the Acts of the Apostles, "Get up. I am making you a witness to what you saw. "

The next WYD will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2023, where thousands of youths from Poland are expected to participate.
