SW News: The new British monarch King Charles III linked his sense of duty and respect for traditions and liberties to his deep-rooted Christian faith during his maiden address to the nation.

The head of the 14  Commonwealth Realms and the United Kingdom delivered his first address as the sovereign on Thursday.  He said the values of the nation must remain constant. “The role and duties of Monarchy also remain, as does the Sovereign’s particular relationship and responsibility towards the Church of England—the Church in which my own faith is so deeply rooted,” said King Charles.
The 73-year-old monarch also added that his Christian faith will be the inspiration for his service to Britons. He said in that faith and the values it inspires, he has been groomed to cherish a sense of duty to others, and to “hold in the greatest respect the precious traditions, freedoms and responsibilities of our unique history and our system of parliamentary government.”

In his address, the new king hailed the dedication and service of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, and vowed lifelong service. He said his mother bore witness to an “abiding love of tradition”, which the monarch said won her the love, admiration and respect of so many people.

“I pay tribute to my mother's memory and I honor her life of service. I know that her death brings great sadness to so many of you and I share that sense of loss, beyond measure, with you all,” he said.
