SW News: After the huge popularity of the 'Bible in a Year' podcast, its creators have expressed hopes for the upcoming commencement of another podcast, 'Catechism in a Year’. During a press conference last week, Fr Mike Schmitz, host of the podcasts, and Jeff Cavins, a Catholic author, lecturer, and producer of the program "The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation", shared their thoughts on the new podcast which is set to commence on January 1, 2023.

They spoke of how the upcoming podcast could influence the lives of faithful and non-Catholics. Fr Schmitz expressed hope that podcast listeners "will not only grow in information but undergo a "real transformation." Even though the Catechism is unique to the Catholic Church, according to Fr. Schmitz, anybody can listen to the podcast and learn about Catholicism from it.

According to Cavins, "Our hope is that the Bible in a Year and Catechism in a Year are going to go one step further in forming people so that they can become like little satellites and share with other people." Cavins said during the event.

Special guests will also join the podcast after each milestone. The podcast will be split into four segments, each featuring a different speaker: "What we believe," with Jeff Cavins; "How we worship," with Bishop Andrew Cozzens; "How we live," with biblical scholar Mary Healy; and "How we pray," with Sister Miriam James Heidland, SOLT. The Catechism of the Catholic Church's Ascension edition will also be available along with the audio.

The Catechism in a Year podcast will have daily episodes, like the Bible in a Year podcast, but they will be shorter—between 15 and 20 minutes rather than the 30- to 45-minute length of the 'Bible in a Year' episodes. The Bible in a Year podcast is the most popular on Apple Podcasts in the Religion & Spirituality category, with a global audience of over 1.5 million.
