Images of Ukrainian Catholic priest celebrating Mass in bomb shelter goes viral on social media

SW News: Amid the Russia-Ukraine war, images of a priest celebrating Holy Mass for the faithful in a bomb shelter in Ukraine have gone viral on social media. The images first appeared on the Facebook page of the Archeparchy of Kyiv with a description saying, "The church is with its people. The priests of the Kiev Archeparchy in Ukraine are in the shelters together with their faithful, serving them spiritually and socially!"
On Sunday, February 27, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, the major archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, had said in a video message that the priests would “go to the dungeons, to the bomb shelters and will perform Divine Liturgies,” for the faithful. He had also expressed his gratitude to all who have supported Ukraine in various ways, especially the soldiers and the Emergency Situations Service of the country.
Despite the growing outrage over the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian military is continuing its attack with hundreds of people sustaining injuries. Talks between the two nations have not yet resulted in a ceasefire or mutual agreement.
