SW News: The Catholic bishops of Poland have strongly condemned the attacks on civilians in Ukraine by Russia. In a statement published at the end of their 391st Plenary meeting, which was held on March 14 and 15, in the capital Warsaw, the bishops said that they were “deeply moved by the tragedy of war.”
They called on “those responsible for the outbreak of the aggression against” Ukraine and its people, and "to stop hostilities as soon as possible and to make efforts to conclude a just peace.” The bishops also urged the faithful to pray for peace in Ukraine.
They expressed gratitude to the work of Caritas Poland in assisting Ukrainian refugees who are in Poland.
Since the outbreak of the war, Poland has taken in more than 1.4 million refugees from Ukraine. Polish President Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, along with his counterparts from the Czech Republic and Slovenia, met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Tuesday to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
