SW News: The Christian Association of Nigeria, the largest interdenominational Christian association in the West African nation, has urged newly elected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure a balanced and diverse appointment of Security Chiefs and top political positions in the country.
Acknowledging the significance of these appointments in guaranteeing the security and well-being of Nigerians, the group has urged the President to take an active role in ensuring that the appointments reflect the nation's diversity.
The Christian umbrella association said, "It is crucial that the appointments reflect the diversity of Nigeria and that qualified individuals from different religious and ethnic backgrounds are allowed to serve in these positions."
They expressed their hopes that President Tinubu would make use of the opportunity of these appointments to relieve the anxieties of the civilians. The Christian organization added that the Nigerians are looking forward to an administration that will rectify the injustices and unfairness of the past.
A few days ago, the largest ecumenical organization urged the new President to prioritize the security concerns and the economic struggles of the people in the country. The entity also appealed to the country's new leader to cooperate with all Nigerians, regardless of their political, racial, or religious affiliations.
Tinubu was sworn in as the President of the West African nation on May 29. He vowed to unite and secure the country. Meanwhile, villagers in northern Nigeria claimed that at least 30 people were killed and several children were kidnapped. Residents said unidentified armed men attacked Janbako and Sakkida villages in northwestern Zamfara state over the weekend.
