SW News: As Nigeria relentlessly struggles to survive amidst unending violence, the West African country faced another massacre by a terrorist group earlier this week. According to the Morning Star News, a dozen Christians were killed after terrorists of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), an offshoot of Boko Haram, attacked a village in the state of Borno on Sunday, December 19.

According to the report, the attack took place around noon by Islamic extremists shortly after believers were exiting the church building after a worship session in Kilangal, Askira-Uba County.

The ISWAP is a dominant militant group in Nigeria that chiefly targets the Christian community and aid workers. The outfit has killed tens of thousands of Christians and displaced millions intending to eliminate the influences of western beliefs and culture and impose Islamic law.

Armed outfits in the country are also indulging in unbridled kidnappings. The hostages are either subjected to slavery or forced to become suicide bombers. Many of those abducted do not even make it back to their homes and families.

Violence in the West African nation has been rising over the past several years and the government seems to be doing very little to tackle the situation.
