SW News:
A priest and a seminarian, who were abducted on August 2 from a diocese in Nigeria, have been freed. The Missionaries of Africa have said that the two are well despite their traumatizing experience.
Melchior Mahinini, a seminarian from Tanzania, and Fr. Paul Sanogo, a native of Mali, have been missing for three weeks now since they were abducted from the Diocese of Minna in Nigeria, where they were performing pastoral duties.
Announcing the release on Wednesday, August 23, Fr. Pam Dennis, the Provincial Superior of White Fathers in Ghana and Nigeria said that the freedom of the two is all thanks to the prayers offered during their captivity.
“Fr. Paul Sanogo from Mali and Brother Melchior Mahinini from Tanzania, who were abducted on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at night in Gyedna, Minna Diocese, Niger State, Nigeria, have been freed, Fr. Pam announced.
"Despite the traumatic experience they underwent in the hands of their abductors during their time of captivity for the last 3 weeks, they are fine, alive, and healthy," he said.
