Prominent advocacy group mails questions to Nigerian candidates to know their position on abortion, family and euthanasia

SW News: A prominent global platform that strives for the promotion of human dignity, life, family and liberty is mailing a questionnaire to Nigerian presidential candidates to ascertain what is their stand on issues plaguing the nation and society. Madrid-based CitizenGo has sent the questions to all candidates ahead of the Feb 25 general election in the most populous West African nation.
More than 18 candidates have joined the fray in Nigeria, which is the hotbed of Christian persecution and Islamist insurgency.
Among the several questions, the main ones include whether or not they support religious freedom in the country and their commitment to bringing an end to the terror of Boko Haram, a Jihadist outfit. Candidates are also being asked whether they regret the slaying of Christians. Apart from religious freedom and Christian persecution, those who are running for the presidency are being questioned about their position on hot-button topics such as gender ideology, abortion, and assisted suicide among many others.
CitizenGo wants an assurance from candidates that they will protect the lives of the unborn, prohibit sexual diversity advocates from entering schools, enshrine the rights of parents in deciding crucial matters that concern their children, and protect the terminally ill from being killed via euthanasia. In short, the CitizenGo questionnaire is a staunch proclamation of the sanctity of life in all stages and a clarion call to protect the traditional family and shield children from the dangers of gender ideology. They are also seeking the regulation of sex education in schools across the country.
The questionnaire also asks candidates if they would protest against the bid to close down churches or suspend their registration. It also wants to know if the leaders will oppose the registration of atheism in the country and the legalization of drugs.
CitizenGo comprises a global fraternity of citizens who use online petitions to defend and promote the family, human life and civil liberties. Their campaigns influence governments and organizations in 50 countries.
