SW News: Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron of the Archdiocese of Detroit will lead a two-mile Eucharistic procession on the feast of Corpus Christi, June 19.
Starting with Holy Mass at 1:00 PM and the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Woodward Avenue in Detroit, the procession with the Blessed Sacrament will proceed through the city and will conclude with Benediction at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Chicago Boulevard.
The Eucharistic procession taking place on the day of the Corpus Christi feast, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, will be the launch of the National Eucharistic Revival in the archdiocese.
The National Eucharistic Revival, started by the Bishops of the United States, is a three-year grassroots movement to revive the “devotion and belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.”
From June 19 onwards, the Diocesan Year of Eucharistic Revival will begin and will conclude by June 11, 2023. The second and third parts of the National Eucharistic Revival are a Parish Year of Eucharistic Revival from June 11, 2023, to July 17, 2024, and a National Eucharistic Congress which will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, from July 17 – 21, 2024.
