SW News: In the United States, the FBI is running a nationwide awareness campaign and offering a reward of $25,000 to anyone who provides information leading to the identity, arrest, and conviction of individuals involved in a wave of assaults and threats against reproductive healthcare institutions around the country.

Christopher Wray, director of the FBI, said that the agency is "committed to aggressively pursue investigations" of crimes committed against pregnancy resource centers, faith-based organizations, and reproductive health clinics nationwide. He emphasized, "We will continue to work closely with our national, state, and local law enforcement authorities to hold responsible anybody who uses extremist ideology to justify unlawful conduct."

In the same press release, the FBI said that, based on the nature of each incident, it may investigate them as potential acts of domestic violent extremism, violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act), or violent crimes.

The bulk of the assaults mentioned in the press release occurred after Politico published details of a leaked opinion of Supreme Court Justices in May regarding the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Roe v. Wade, which established abortion as a constitutional right in 1973.

The FBI is also seeking information on the individuals who tossed a Molotov cocktail into the front entrance of a Planned Parenthood facility in Costa Mesa, California, on March 13, prior to the release of the final ruling.

Based on the press release, anybody with information may call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-8326), their local FBI office, or online at tips.fbi.gov. As per the agency, the informant may maintain anonymity.
