SW News: Thousands of anti-abortionists rallied at the Virginia State Capitol on Wednesday, in support of the fifth March for life Virginia. Over 3,000 people participated in the rally and many prominent pro-life activists grabbed the attention of the participants with inspiring speeches. "The event is about making their voices heard," said Jeanne Mancini, the President of the March for Life.
“We’re gathering pro-life Virginians here today, again for the fifth time, so that we can let our elected officials know where we stand on the inherent dignity of the unborn child and their mothers," said Mancini while exhorting the crowd.
Since it is the first march after the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the U.S.
Supreme Court and right after Senate Democrats shutdown Governor Glenn Youngkin’s push for a 15-week abortion ban, much of the focus, including the speeches, chants and signs were on how strongly the states protest on the issue.
The main attraction of the march was the participation of Governor Glenn Yougkin as he is the first Governor to join a state march for life for the second time.
He said that it was a beautiful day to stand up for life and revealed his disappointment with Senate Democrats who opposed pro-life legislation in the last weeks.
It is also noteworthy that people of different ages especially mothers with infants, young people and from different walks of life took part in the march and made a firm declaration for life. Attorney General Jason Miyares, Family foundation president Victoria Cobb, Delegate Emily Brewer were the other major speakers of the event. Overall the event was entirely successful, said the organizers.
