Washington, DC:
The Sisters of Life have announced their collaboration with the Knights of Columbus for the second year to host Life Fest in Washington, D.C., on January 19 in conjunction with the March for Life at the Washington Metropolitan Armory. The march marks the second gathering since the United States Supreme Court's 2022 decision to overturn Roe V. Wade, returning abortion policymaking to the states.
Organizers have revealed that Life Fest will showcase dynamic speakers and testimonies, music by Sarah Kroger and Damascus Worship, as well as Holy Mass and a Eucharistic healing procession. Attendees will also have the chance to venerate first-class relics of the Ulma family, who were recently beatified in their native Poland. The Ulma family was tragically killed by the Nazis on March 24, 1944, for sheltering two Jewish families in their farmhouse. One of their seven children was still in utero at the time. In a media release on December 21, Life Fest organizers emphasized the special place the "Ulma family" holds in the pro-life community, highlighting how their lives exemplify the value of every human life.
The Ulma Family's martyrdom will be commemorated in a special exhibition, "The Good Samaritans of Markowa: The Sacrificial Love of The Ulma Family," on display in Washington until March 24, which will also feature the Ulmas' relics. Sister Mary Grace, one of the organizers, shared her experience at a pro-life rally before the March for Life, recalling how it transformed her perspective and understanding of the value of every human being.
The Sisters of Life is a lay Catholic community of women established in 1991 in New York, dedicated to protecting human life and promoting new life in Jesus Christ. On the other side of the world, the Knights of Columbus is a brother-benefit society founded by lay Catholic men in 1882 and is one of the most prominent international charitable organizations globally.
