SW News: Jim Caviezel, who plays the main role in the recently released anti-human trafficking movie 'Sound of Freedom,' revealed that Hollywood director Mel Gibson wept while watching the movie. In an interview with the movie's distributor, Angel Studios, Caviezel said that they showed the movie to two Academy Award-winning directors. “Both of them were absolutely stunned. One of them is my good friend Mel Gibson. The other one likes to remain anonymous. Mel was weeping,” he stated.
The movie 'Sound of Freedom,' produced by Mexican actor Eduardo Verástegui, was released in around 2,500 theaters across the United States on July 4. The movie has been receiving an excellent response at the box office since its release. According to Fox News, “On its first day, the film took the number one spot at the box office, grossing over $14 million through "pay it forward" and direct box office sales.”
The Sound of Freedom is inspired by the life of Tim Ballard, a former U.S. Special Agent for the Department of Homeland Security, who quit his job to rescue children from sex traffickers. Ballard founded an organization called 'Operation Underground Railroad' in 2013, whose “mission is to shine a light worldwide on the global epidemic of child sex trafficking and, in doing so, rescue more children from slavery and assist law enforcement in seeking justice for those who violate children.”
Alejandro Gómez Monteverde is the director of the movie. Verástegui, who is a devout Catholic, also plays an important role in the movie.
