More Americans support legislation banning abortions after 15 weeks, says Wall Street Journal poll

SW News: In the backdrop of the US Supreme Court gearing up to issue a verdict on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, the Wall Street Journal held a poll that revealed that “more American voters favor the idea of a 15-week abortion ban than oppose it.”
According to the poll, 48% of voters said they support such prohibitions on abortions, provided there are exemptions to safeguard the mother’s health. Meanwhile, 43% said they were opposed to laws that restrict the termination of pregnancy.
“A total of 31 per cent of voters said they strongly support a 15-week ban, while 17 per cent were somewhat in support. Another 34 per cent said they strongly opposed such a ban, and 10 per cent said they were somewhat opposed,” reports the Wall Street Journal.
The Wall Street Journal poll, conducted between March 2 and March 7, surveyed 1,500 registered voters.
In a poll conducted earlier this year, it was reported that most Americans support restrictions on abortion. This poll was held by Marist Poll and sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
At present, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is examining the constitutionality of a Mississippi abortion law, the "Gestational Age Act" enacted on March 19, 2018, that prohibits abortions after the fifteenth week of pregnancy except in cases of medical emergencies or fetal abnormalities.
Numerous pro-lifers are hoping that the SCOTUS verdict to be declared in the last week of June will uphold the constitutionality of the pivotal Mississippi law. If this happens, the 1973 Roe v. Wade judgment that established a constitutional right to end a pregnancy will be repealed.
