SW News: New York Mayor Eric Adams has said that taking prayer out of schools was a big mistake. He was referring to the 1962 Supreme Court ruling that banned school-sponsored prayer in public schools while making these remarks at an interfaith breakfast hosted by him on February 28 at the New York Public Library.

Many faith leaders participated in the event. After recalling a childhood incident that encouraged him to strive for success, he referred to every place of worship as "gyms" that prepares each individual to serve those who are most in need. He urged the audience to bring their "best fight" and fight against societal injustices using prayer as a weapon.

Pointing out the repercussions of taking prayer out of social settings, he said, "When we took prayers out of schools, guns came into schools."
He emphasized instilling "faith and belief" in children "to build" them in a way that they may be "better for our world."
