SW News: An iconic statue of Jesus Christ in the US became the target of a blasphemous act by a group of activist artists in Eureka Springs. The art collective named Indecline, which is pro-choice, said in a press release that it hanging a banner that read “God Bless Abortions” across the statue of Christ of the Ozarks in the state of Arkansas. This was done by the guerrilla art collective Indecline to protest against the pro-life efforts taken by Arkansas and other states to ban abortion.

The 67-foot majestic monument of Christ is located on top of Magnetic Mountain. The banner was smuggled onto the peak by a small group of artists disguised as construction crew and strung up before sunrise on Friday, July  9.

Earlier this year, the group had vandalized a pro-life billboard in Arkansas. The Christ of the Ozarks is one of the five giant statues of Jesus around the globe and one of two in North America. It is located near the intersection of US Highway 62 and Arkansas State Highway 23.

“Lord help them,” said the curator of the monument Randall Christy adding that the Lord touches them and makes them realize how bad that message is.
