SW News: A Republican lawmaker in the US state of Oklahoma is seeking the ouster of the president of a university for hosting a controversial show on campus using student fees. Representative JJ Humphrey wants the University of Oklahoma President Joseph Harroz Junior to be fired for 18000 USD to host an annual sexualized transvestite show.

He said it was a perverted agenda to push such shows on campus. Humphrey said, “So for the president to allow this kind of action should be instant grounds for termination.” He said he was appealing to other lawmakers and also the governor of the state seeking the termination of Harroz.

This came after the university hosted the annual Crimson and Queens transvestite event. On its website, the school justified the show by saying that it was a platform for students and other local performers to showcase their art and enhance visibility for the homosexual community.

As per an open records request made by the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, the event’s main performer Yvide Oddly was given 18000 USD for the show and other expenses from student fees. “No state appropriations or student tuition were used to support this event.”

Speaking to Fox 25 Oklahoma, the lawmaker said, "So my question is, why are we spending $18,000 of the OU money, educational money, they could go to scholarships, could go to research, cancer research, these kinds of things that a school should be doing, other research for the betterment of all people, instead OU president decides he wants to fund $18,000 for a person." He alleged that the university has lost its moral compass in its pursuit of the woke agenda.

"I've had people say, ‘Well, this is not state funds,’ well, it is they're using student fees," Humphrey said. He added that student fees were used for something like that event, then the fund could have been used for something better.

In a statement, the Republican lawmaker said, "If they allow it that’s on them. I openly oppose it and feel it is perverse. OU made a Christian group pay for using the facility, pay for security and pay for their own entertainment on the same day. Why are we paying for drag queens? Plus, do we want our state college known for being the #1 drag queen performance?"

In another statement, the university justified the show saying that was part of its efforts to make sure that diverse voices and beliefs are represented on campus.
